Gavin & Heather Terrell

The home of Gavin and Heather Terrell sits proudly on top of a hill, where they have lived with their three children since 2000.  The Terrells are natives of the area; Gavin from Semmes, Heather from Daphne.  When the home was purchased there was a yard full of clay waiting to be molded and shaped into the inevitable "Yard of the Month;"  a dream of Gavin, now fulfilled.

The rise of the hill is planted with blue rug junipers, bordered by mondo grass, and neatly manicured loropetalum (chinese fringe), and dwarf camillias, accented with yellow mums to welcome the fall season. As you approach the house you immediately notice the wonderful green, weedfree, soft GRASS under foot, a site which most of us only dream of. The front of the porch is framed with potted Mexican Petunias, nandinas and monkey grass.  Gray stones edge the plantings across the front of the home and yard, highlighting the plantings.

The Lake Forest Garden Club is honored to acknowledge the hard work, the planning and finally the pleasure of being named Yard of the Month, to Gavin Terrell and his wife.  The Garden Club acknowledges this with a Gift Certificate from Home Depot.  Please be sure to take time to see community pride in action and be sure to be on the lookout for a rabbit and some turtles lurking in the yard.
