Old Business:
Landscaping- The garden club is continuing to evaluate the landscaping and
what will be needed to complete the project. Mike has spoken with the garden
club and they may be able to donate $250 towards the project and the tennis
association will probably need to donate about the same amount. Once final
plans are in place we should know the exact costs and we can plan a work
day.
Growing our Club- Susan and Roger put on a quick social with the Mobile
Tennis Center. There were approx 24 people participating. Burgers,
refreshments and deserts were prepared by Susan and Bill Green and Roger
coordinated the event. The club after expenses brought in approx $55.
We discussed various ways to increase the activity of play on nights such as
men's night and ladies night. Having the workers call people for the various
nights was discussed along with the members calling themselves.
New Business- Mike has been busy getting the courts ready for spring play.
He is planing to hang some more windscreens, plus he has painted the posts
and repaired some nets.
Mike has planned a social with the University of Mobile in order to help
their tennis team. The social will be Feb. 26 at 10:00am. Richard will do a
mass e-mail to people to help generate interest. The board will also provide
Mike with any help he needs to put on the event.
We also will try to plan a social with the Daphne Men's tennis team on March
19 to help the team with a few expenses. Susan will try and talk to the
Men's tennis coach to seek his approval.
Mike brought up that the Daphne Girl's tennis team is sometimes trying to
hold practice on the hard courts. The Daphne Girl's team is not being
sponsored by Lake Forest and does not hold their home matches on Lake Forest
courts. The girl's team therefore are not allowed to practice on the hard
courts as a team. Individual girls that are residents of Lake Forest
can have some friends practicing with them, but they are not allowed to have
a formal practice with the coach.
The Daphne Men's tennis team is allowed to practice on the courts. They are
sponsored by Lake Forest.
We voted to change the meetings from the 3rd Sunday of every month to the
first Sunday of every month.
