Lake Forest Tennis Association Board Meeting April, 23, 2006 Present: Tennis Pro Mike Albrecht, Paul Wilson, Jane Funkhausier, Craig Wells, Richard Hall, Janis White, Roger Kersh Meeting was called to order at 2:pm by President Paul Wilson. The March meeting minutes were read by those attending and approved. Relay for Life Event: Janice White reported that they raised $1320 for Relay for Life. This event was held this past Friday. There were approx. 29 players from across the region that attended this event. Janet will composed a news release for the local newspapers including the Lake Forest Spectrum. A special thanks goes to Mike (our tennis pro) Janet White, and Judy McCrory, and all the people that worked on this event. Plants Around the Tennis Area: Paul sent thank you notes to Roger Davidson and Mike Dubose for their work in planting the flowers and shrubs around the tennis courts and swimming pools. April Social: The April social was cancelled because of Easter and Palm Sunday. Too many people had made other plans for the Sunday afternoon. Tennis Racquets: In the last meeting Paul had mentioned about trying to recycle old tennis racquets to kids in need of racquets. Mike will see if there is a need for older but still playable racquets for kids or people in need of racquets. Growing our Membership: We would like to develop and ad for the local newspaper to promote the Lake Forest Racquet Club. The ad put in the newspaper by Lake Forest is fine, but we would like to develop and ad that targets tennis. Mike has partially designed an ad. Mike, Paul and Janet will work on this project and finish the ad. Mike and Paul will go thru the necessary people to get approval from Lake Forest Property Owners Association. The Lake Forest Tennis Association will fund the ad unless LFPOA would like to help. We realize the LFPOA is already paying for one ad and paying for another may be asking too much. Greeting New Guests: Guests and new members sometimes come by the Racquet Club wanting to find someone to play. Paul came up with an idea of posting the names and phone numbers of members that usually can play on short notice or during particular times. This will give new members a chance to play and be greeted by present members. May Social: We will have a social Saturday May 20 at 9:00am. This will be a pot luck social with everyone bring some dish to pleasure our taste buds. We will try and get some prizes to give away. The cost will be $15 and will be free to new people playing at Lake Forest for the first time. Paul will handle the details with balls, posters, drinks, and paper ware. Mike will try and get a list of members so they can be contacted about the social.
