As mentioned in another link, over the years Lake Forest has repeatedly sought assistance with an erosion problem that has been a result to a great extent of the growth of the Eastern Shore outside of the subdivision.  Below is an example of the kind of response we have gotten from every government body.  This is not meant as a reflection or criticism of Congressman Bonner.  His reply was just handy.  His letter is simply an example of what we have heard before from others.  There is sufficient evidence to prove the claim by the association that the damage has been caused by negligence to a certain degree on the part of government bodies in carrying out their responsibilities of enforcing the law.

At a lake meeting several years ago of numerous representatives of City, County, State, community leaders, and Federal agencies, and Lake Forest board members, a representative of Alabama Governor Riley said something along the lines of the following.  This is not an exact quote, but it is close.

"The Governor is delighted to see leaders of the community, City and County representatives and other agencies come together to tackle such a serious problem.  He thinks that this could be a model for the way other communities tackle similar problems."

That was political speak for 'We aren't going to do a darn thing, so you're on your own folks."
