James and Judith Ratliff

125 Rolling Hill

April's Yard of the Month belongs to Jim and Judy Ratliff of 125 Rolling Hill, who have lived in Lake Forest for 14 years. This wonderful yard is filled with a variety of Azaleas that make you feel spring has sprung. Along the left of the driveway there are Bradford Pears beginning to leaf, along with a Japanese Maple and Azaleas. If you follow the path of Azaleas along that side of the house, it will lead you to the back yard. The entrance walk leads to an inviting front porch flanked with Boxwood, Pittosporum, Loropetalum and a Sago Palm.  The front yard bed is filled with samplings of Crepe Myrtles, Japanese Magnolia, Dogwoods and Oak, dappled with Bridal wreath, Azaleas, Camellias, Gardenias, Day lilies and Lantana, neatly bordered with monkey grass. And there is plenty of room of annuals. This is definitely a yard for all seasons. And although front yards are the main view from the street, the Ratliff's backyard is equally lovely. Again, so many Azaleas in bloom, samplings of Nandina, a Trumpet Tree, Barberry, Lantana and a lovely deck that looks out on an inviting fountain that is bird friendly all year.

The Lake Forest Garden Club is happy to select the Ratliff's home and invite you to come by and enjoy the beginning of Spring. The Ratliff's will received a gift certificate from Home Depot in appreciation of their efforts to make Lake Forest a special place to live.
